I have tried to update Download Mod from 6.4.9 to 6.4.10 (first), but I can't open the file here: http://phpbb3.oxpus.net/viewtopic.php?f ... t=70#p3170
I have an error when I try to open "update_mod_6.4.9_to_6.4.10.xml" (System Error: -2146697211).

Re: Update Download Mod from 6.4.9
The webbrowser needs a stylesheet in order to display the xml properly... or at all for that matter...
go to the beggining of that topic you posted the very FIRST post has a link to the following file
modx.prosilver.en.xsl.zip
download that and extract into the same directory as the .xml file... then it will open properly
This file needs to be present in order to open any Modx file....

Re: Update Download Mod from 6.4.9
Thank you very much!
Where can I find other files to update using automod? (Or the files to upload in root)?
It's possible to update directly from 6.4.9 to 6.4.13?

Re: Update Download Mod from 6.4.9
Your welcome!,
I kinda figured that was gonna be your next question.....Oxpus doesnt include the update files as links in the main install file, so updating with automod is gonna be messy. You would have to upload each package replacing the stock xml file with the update file..... 5 times each version respectivly... and you would have 5 entries in automod. and a PITA
IF and i dont know Y he doesnt do this he included say the last 5 updates xml files in the contrib folder and links to them in the main XML file then all you need to do is upload the new complete package into the existing store/mods/downloadmod
retaining the download mods directory name... then automod would see the additional files under "details" and would let you do the installs one by one and then run the install script.
but because he doesnt do this then either you have to
A: install all the new file changes manually all 4 or 5 updates... and copying all the changed files up and run the update script
or
B:
I think the best thing to do and oxpus might chime in here is to use automod to uninstall all the file changes.... be sure to clear the cache and refresh everything.....delete the old version from automod... upload the new version to automod and install it.... run the update script to update the database... and eveything should be there and working. with the new version
I have 6.4.9 on my test forum... guess i should give it a try and let you know... but im 90% sure thats the best plan of attack!
dave
Update! Well i just tried this on my test forum and it seemed to work perfectly.
I dont think there was anything wrong with what i did? i think its the middle of the night in germany... i usually get responses back from oxpus in the AM.
When he comes out with a new version i think ill attempt to add the info into the main install xml to link to the update file...

Re: Update Download Mod from 6.4.9
Hello,
if you update from one release to the next one you must normally replace some files, upload new files and run the installer for the database.
This is still the same procedure for each new release.
The idea to uninstall the Mod with AM and reinstall it from the newest one is good if you will update many releases.
But be sure you will not use the database installer to uninstall but to update the Mod and backup the download and thumbs folder before uninstall the Mod if the AM may drop them while the old release will be uninstalled.

Re: Update Download Mod from 6.4.9
I have created some categories and changed settings in version 6.4.9, so I think I'll try to upgrade manually step by step
Where can I find the files of the version between 6.4.9 and 6.4.14.1 to upload them step by step?
Thank you for your assistant and sorry for my bad english

Re: Update Download Mod from 6.4.9
You must not update each step by step but only the install instructions for the phpbb3 files.
Just replace all files of the Mod and run at least the install.php.
That's all and you will not loose any data or settings.

Re: Update Download Mod from 6.4.9
Like Oxpus said....
Download all the phpbb3 core files listed in all the update instructions from your server... i think theres 6 or 7 steps now, so there should be quite a bit of changes
makes all the changes listed in all the update instructions and upload them to your server.
download the current version 6.4.14.1 and upload all the files from the mod.
then run the install.php script and make sure u click on "update"
this will make a few changes to your database tables etc.....
As a side note... as oxpus said.... doing the updates changing files etc never had any effect on the categorys, settings, downloads etc as all that info is stored in the database.
As another side note AUTOMOD generally doesnt do any database modifacations adding or removing... unless the installer chooses to add this into the install instructions....
For the most part all the larger MODS have a separate "install script" that adds updates deletes etc all the mods needed tables and entries... and also adds the needed modules into the ucp acp and mcp
Doing an uninstall with automod just removed the phpbb3 core file edits.... it doesnt remove the database entries and it doesnt even remove the mods files at least the version of automod i have
